David Miscavige

Found a posting on a friend's blog about David Miscavige where she commented on a St. Petersburg Times article from a few years ago. She said:

"It states: 'David Miscavige, the seldom-seen leader of the church, comes forth in his first newspaper interview to talk of a more peaceful time for Scientology.'

I guess they needed some controversy so they said he was "seldom-seem." As a Scientologist I find that a bit comical. I see Mr. David Miscavige at least 6 times a year as there are international events videoed and/or televised to every Scientology church and mission on earth at least that many times a year and Mr. Miscavige is usually the emcee at these events.

Additionally, this year he visited the Church of Scientology of Buffalo, New York the Church of Scientology of Johannesburg, South Africa and the Church of Scientology of San Francisco, California for the grand opening events of these churches, and was the keynote speaker at the 35th Anniversary of Celebrity Centre International. (Scientology Celebrity Centre is located in Los Angeles California)."

My two cents to this are: Yes - and he was the keynote speaker at the grand opening of the Church of Scientology of Spain and the Church of Scientology of New York where over 10,000 people attended each event.

This certainly proves his being "seldom seen". Not to mention the fact that he was interviewed for 2 hours by Ted Koppel and Koppel won an emmy for that show.

Boy, do I love the media.

(But to be fair, the St Petersburg Times has mended their ways and did an excellent series of articles on Scientology earlier this year. The two best pages are "Scientology's Town" and "About Scientology.")
